    Description

    Main Purpose:

    The Head of Remuneration and Analytics leads the design and implementation of all aspects of the employee remuneration offering, including benefits, and incentives.

    In partnership with the People & Culture (P&C) Leadership team, he/she leads, reviews and designs policies to ensure that the compensation and benefits practices of the organisation are internally equitable, market competitive and aligned with the company's performance and affordability.

    Reporting to the P&C Executive, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of external best-practices and reward strategies combined with a track record of conceptualising successful strategies, developing and leading action plans.

    He/she will have the ability to execute and operationalise in a scalable way to amplify business productivity and drive a high performing culture that attracts, motivates and retains talent.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Partner with P&C Executive to identify and propose total reward solutions
    • Manage the completion of market survey submissions and data analysis
    • Analyse remuneration and benefits across the Enterprise and report on findings
    • Initiate total compensation reviews and alternatives based on market competitiveness and business needs
    • Establish, administer, manage, and review the employee remuneration and benefits system
    • Devise, maintain and monitor fair and equitable pay rates across the Enterprise
    • Participate in the management of Annual Salary Review and STI payment cycle
    • Recommend corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related issues

    Payroll

    • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the payroll administration function
    • Manage the payroll administration to ensure compliance with statutory legislation
    • Ensure integrity and overall governance of the payroll system and processes
    • Conduct data quality assurance on payroll system such as recording leave captured in the system, updating organisational structure and audits against workforce records

    Data analytics and reporting

    • Compile remuneration and benefit reports
    • Provide insights reports and recommendations on various aspects of the reward agenda such as pay strategy and gender pay
    • Consolidate data from all systems impacting on remuneration to analyse people-related data and identify trends and anomalies
    • Share relevant management information with key stakeholders to enable reliable business decision-making
    • Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting

    Operational support

    • Serve as a recognised subject matter expert and an escalation point for P&C and business leadership regarding issues around pay and bands
    • Serve as first line support for HRIS and conduit between P&C Business Partners to achieve operational efficiencies
    • Educate line managers and P&C Business Partners on remuneration, benefit, and job evaluation-related matters

    Job grading

    • Coordinate and oversee job grading processes
    • Evaluate positions to ensure a consistent grading system across the Enterprise
    • Prepare classification systems and define job levels and families
    • Work closely with the Head of Organisational Effectiveness to manage and give input into the Organisational Design governing principles

    Governance

    • Perform audits and prepare reports to ensure compliance with the remuneration structure, including the Remuneration Committee
    • Manage the administration of the LTI and STI scheme
    • Oversee the governance of the Commission schemes
    • Participate in the compilation and provision of all requisite information for the external audit and for the remuneration components of the Board report
    • Manage the upkeep and review of remuneration policies and guiding frameworks

    Management of third-party vendors

    • Provide expert knowledge to assist in the selection of third parties to provide the best remuneration solutions and services
    • Manage third-party vendors such as brokers and consultants and mediate between vendors and employees
    • Manage service level agreements with benefits service providers

    Key Competencies

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Tertiary education in a related field
    • 10+ years in a reward/remuneration & benefits environment, with minimum 3+ years of leading the function
    • Experience with Advanced Excel, knowledge of PowerBI or other analytics tools (MIS experience advantageous)
    • Knowledge of SA Labour Law and Employment Practices
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills
    • Proven track record in building operational efficiencies and implementing process reengineering to support and drive a high-performance culture
    • Leadership skills and experience managing and developing a high-performing team
