Purpose of the Job:

The Area Sales Manager will drive sales growth and expand market share within the designated geographical area.

This individual will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of sales representatives to achieve targets while fostering strong relationships with distributors, retailers, key stakeholders and utilising strategic insights to identify new business opportunities, developing effective sales strategies and implementing tactical plans to maximize revenue.

Key Performance Areas:

Sales Growth Strategy:


  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales growth strategies for the designated geographical area.
  • Identify new business opportunities and potential market segments to expand Crickley Dairy's market share.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to inform strategic decisionmaking processes.

Relationship Management:


  • Foster strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key stakeholders to enhance Crickley Dairy's presence in the market.
  • Collaborate with key customers to understand their needs and address any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Represent Crickley Dairy at industry events and conferences to network and build partnerships.

Strategic Planning and Execution:


  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximise revenue and profitability.
  • Monitor competitor activities and market conditions to adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Work closely with the marketing department to align sales efforts with promotional activities and product launches.
  • Prepare sales reports and forecasts to guide decisionmaking.

Customer Service Excellence:


  • Ensure exceptional customer service and product visibility to uphold Crickley Dairy's brand reputation.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Implement measures to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:


  • Track key performance metrics, including sales volume, revenue targets and market share to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on sales performance, market trends and competitive analysis for management review.
  • Utilise datadriven insights to optimize sales operations and drive continuous improvement.

Compliance and Policy Adherence:


  • Uphold ethical business practices and integrity in all interactions with customers and stakeholders.
  • Mitigate risks associated with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Team Leadership and Motivation:


  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of sales representatives to achieve sales targets effectively.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure the team's success in meeting performance metrics and objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Education, experience and competencies required:


  • Grade 1
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales or a related field. 3 Years' experience within the FMCG industry
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Minimum of 57 years of progressive experience in sales, preferably in the food and beverage industry or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of success in achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in leading and motivating sales teams to meet and exceed objectives.
  • Familiarity with sales analytics tools and techniques to track and analyse sales performance data.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the designated geographical area
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office, Excel, PPT and Word).
