JOB PURPOSE
To ensure that all building facilities are compliant to required standards and government regulations. To implement industry best practices on behalf of the facility in relation to building maintenance and support services.

The Facilities Manager's responsibilities include all aspects from working with our internal clients in defining the brief, providing conceptual design with the professional team, and project management on behalf of Evander Hotel to handing over of the finished product.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify Improvement requirements for Buildings, Plant, Machinery and Infrastructure
  • Compile Scope of work with Bill of Quantities for approved projects.
  • Oversee procurement process to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Organize necessary resources for projects.
  • Adhere to the H&S standards of the hotel and government legislated laws.
  • Ensure all Heads of Departments adhere to H&S formulate checklist list daily/weekly/monthly etc H&S checklist in order for the hotel to be complaint with the law
  • Implement Q's Hotels Safety Program by conducting monthly Safety Committee Meetings and ensuring that all division requirements are met.
  • Ensure the hotels have the relevant legislated licenses.
  • Management project implementations according to developed project plans and arrange for the necessary contractual documents to be in place before the commencement of the project
  • Develop and Implement maintenance by plans for Plant and machinery.
  • Manage major upgrade projects for the facilities to ensure adherence to budgets and time constraints.
  • Develop budgets for Operational and Capital Expenses
  • Responsible for Technical Related issues, specifically Plant, Machinery, and Infrastructure of the hotel
  • People management for support service staff including general maintenance workers, garden services team and technical teams.
  • Ensuring Technical Compliance to the Company Policies, Regulatory requirements, and standards
  • Responsible for Repairs and Maintenance of all hotel Equipment
  • Oversee the maintenance tasks, work orders and special projects ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Compile snag list for all major projects
  • Installation & maintenance of all equipment related to HVAC, Water treatment, _H&S_ etc.
  • Ensure records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel including guarantee dates, company items purchased from, serial codes, repairs and service records etc.
  • Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel including physical, mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc
  • Management of contractors' and service providers performances ensuring the hotel H&S protocol is followed.
  • Assist the hotel with suppliers for maintenance and H&S, ensuring the SLA is completed correct with the necessary documentation.
  • Management of risk related to Buildings' Technical infrastructure and assets related to all hotel and equipment.
  • Quality and safety assurance during and after completion of contracts.
  • Professional interaction with colleagues, contractors, hotel team, and clients
  • Professional and effective service to all guests.
  • Training and assisting of Technical staff where required.
  • Managing Technical Related Purchasing and Expenditure.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports and as requested reports on staff, contractor, facilities, and assets.
  • Compile preventive maintenance checklist of for the hotel and report daily in the morning meeting
  • Facility Risk assessment compile daily/weekly/monthly assessments
  • Ensure compliance with the OHS, Health Act and other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Quality and safety assurance during and after completion of contracts
  • Respond to guest's maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient prompt and courteous service to hotel standards.
  • Maintain, monitor and test hotel's emergency and security systems features like fire alarm, CCTV, etc
  • Conduct monthly fire drills to ensure team follow protocol

EDUCATION

  • Matric certificate
  • Bachelor Degree related to construction and/or facilities management and/or Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) preferred
  • A valid driver's license

EXPERIENCE
years in a Facilities Management environment, with responsibility for building services (technical services, cleaning, pest control, health, and safety etc.)

  • 3rd party/supplier/service provider negotiations and SLA management
  • Managing stock control, stores, and supply chain logistics
  • Responsibility for functional budgeting and business planning
  • Track record in people management
  • Management experience within a multinational environment
  • Knowledge of South African laws and practices required in building operations
