The Impact Centre draws on diverse perspectives, skills and partnerships to generate, measure and communicate impactful research on critical challenges facing South Africa and the world.

The Impact Centre Unit is seeking to employ a programme administrator, under strategic partnership sub
- unit within the HSRC on a permanent basis.


Minimum Requirements:


Key Requirements:


  • Relevant administration experience;
  • Matric plus experience, diploma or degree;
years minimum experience in research, academic or science council and NGO environment;

  • 5 years minimum of experience in planning and management in the planning of events, seminars and or Conferences;
  • Experience in managing at least 2 academic conferences (local & international) managing logistics, panels and speakers;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • High level of computer literacy, especially in the MS office Suite-MS Word, Excel, Access and Project and database management;

Duties and Responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Drive implementation of projects involving strategic partners and stakeholders;
  • Ability to quickly build a protocol of supporting projects with internal and external stakeholders, working handinhand with ;
  • Provide logístical support for events, initiatives, and programs that are supported/implemented by Strategic Partnerships Unit (SPU)
  • Prepare reports quarterly reports on projects implemented and in progress, as well as advise on status of challenges where necessary.
  • Develop project management plan for critical projects that promote mandate of HSRC and Impact Centre in line with servicing the strategic partnerships for impact;
  • Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
  • Organize facilities / online systems and manage all event's details such as catering, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc
  • Ensure compliance with all Policies
  • Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities
  • High level of diplomacy skills and the ability to balance competing interests and manage multiple stakeholders with complex and competing objectives
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
  • Conduct pre
- and post - event evaluations involving external partners and stakeholders, report on outcomes and proposed future plans

  • Database management/update and learn how to utilise or source various software for data management.
