Established fintech company in the insurance sector is searching for 5 of the brightest up and coming SQL developers to offer internships to.

My client has developed an administration and accounting software package that is tailored for the retirement fund industry.
Job Overview
Technologies & Knowledge Required
Microsoft T-SQL
Relational database design
Knowledge of finance (Accounting and Investments) is required
B.SC Actuarial Science, IT related B. Com or B.Sc. (IT) degree
SQL (bonus)
Training will be provided in the use of and development in

Microsoft SQL Server

T-SQL
basic database administration.
(This is not a DBA role, but DBA knowledge would be beneficial)
Roles and Responsibilities
The role requires interactions with clients business analysts (or systems teams) to establish requirements for new enhancements.

Analyse these requirements in order to build new business functions or enhance existing ones using T-SQL, to ensure that quality work is delivered in accordance with the clients specification.

For example, developing workflows (using our integrated workflow tool) to design business process flows, or develop customised screens.
Testing of various procedures and their interactions.
Analyse and resolve any system errors originating from the database.
Query optimization.
Writing of reports and creating report templates.
Data conversion, and data cleansing will be required at times. Knowledge of SSIS would be advantageous.
Liaising with our training department to document any new processes or changes to existing ones.

Travel

Travel outside Gauteng may be required.

Most of their clients are based in Gauteng. Work at clients maybe required. They have clients in Cape Town and Durban as well as a few clients in Sub Saharan Africa.
