Main Purpose of The Job

  • The Operations / Factory Manager will be responsible for the execution of the agreed daily manufacturing plan, coordinating and control of the manufacturing processes within the sheeting plant

The incumbent will ensure:
that goods and services are produced efficiently,
- and that the correct quantity is produced at the right cost in accordance with the respective sales order;
- the correct level of quality and delivered within agreed lead times OTIF.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for the managing of all the Operations / Factory required to fulfill annual Production requirements, and final delivery to the finished goods warehouse; this is to be affected within approved budgets, scrap levels and output/efficiency targets, while ensuring the worker force safety is maintained and that the factory remains legally compliant. The incumbent must be able to lead the production team in a meaningful and coordinated manner, that will ensure a stable and team orientated work ethic exists. Strong labor relationships are essential.

  • Responsible for the successful management of the production capabilities which will be alignment of needs of the Branch's customers to meet the overall objectives & strategies of the company
  • Responsible for the sustainability of the existing manufacturing startegy
  • Support the strengthening of customer relationships, by understanding their needs, and driving the company process whilst maximising yield and profitability through the operations
  • Effectively communicate the company Vision & Values internally within the manufacturing operation

  • Manage and reduce costs of the subfunction
  • Performance management:
  • Ensure subfunctional strategic plan is implemented through disciplined execution processes track implementation and provide feedback to managers
  • Coordinate functional/crossfunctional activities to ensure functional alignment

  • Track and drive functional targets/goals and hold staff accountable for achieving results

    Inherent Requirements

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Matric/Grade 1
  • National Diploma in Production, Operations or Sales Management
  • Degree or Post Graduate Degree would be an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of local roof industry
  • Minimum 1015 years' experience in operations and manufacturing
  • Minimum years' experience in a management position
  • A Mechanical/Electrical background in Roll milling operations processes and equipment is advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years' experience using Microsoft packages
  • Strong labour relationships are essential
  • Knowledge of machine set up, roll settings is advantageous, as well as the respective methods of fault finding and resolution
  • Sound understanding of Production management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
