    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    The Transport planner is responsible for planning, optimisation and execution of RDM transportation requirements. This mainly entails the role of distributing goods and services for RDM. The activities include inbound and outbound logistics, transport and fleet management.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Ensure Planning, optimisation and execution of RDM transportation requirements. This mainly entails the role of distributing goods and services for RDM. The activities include inbound and outbound logistics, transport and fleet management.
  • Update and maintain the vehicle database system;
  • Ensure that the Vehicle Management System is often maintained to present the most up to date information;
  • Ensure mechanical and cosmetic maintenance of company owned vehicles;
  • Execute the strategy of replacing combustible engine vehicles into electrical vehicles (E-Vehicles);
  • Ensure monthly inspections of explosive vehicles to conform to the CIE standards for applicable site;
  • Ensure that the explosive and non-explosive vehicles onsite are always compliant as per RDM and / or CIE standards;
  • Maintain vehicles' licensing requirements and their validity;
  • Compile and update the shipping plan for weekly inter-site deliveries;
  • Communicate the inter-site delivery plan to the relevant stakeholders at-least twice a week;
  • Execute the shipping plan as scheduled;
  • Ensure that the transport service provider (s) has sufficient fleet to execute the weekly delivery plan;
  • Ensure that the vehicles provided by the service provider (s) are always compliant as per RDM and / or CIE standards;
  • Optimize (combine where possible) loads or trips to save on transport costs;
  • Manage the performance of transport service providers;
  • Manage shuttle services in alignment with the agreed routes onsite during peak hours;
  • Ensure availability of vehicles in hot spot areas throughout the day
  • Manage the performance of shuttle service providers.
  • WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
  • Diploma Logistics Management/Transportation/Operations Management and/or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • BCom in Logistics/Transportation/Operations Management and/or Industrial Engineering will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of Supply Chain, Logistics/Transport and Operation experience;
  • Minimum 3 year of Transport planning or Fleet management experience;
  • Knowledge and Understanding of regulations and standards on all modes of transport (land, sea and air);
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations will be an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of route planning;
  • Knowledge, understanding and transactional exposure of ERP systems (preferably SAP) will be an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of processes, administration, procedures, quality, production, products, maintenance and safety requirements.
