Job Summary


To support the Finance Management (FM) by providing architectural and strategic consulting in the areas of architectural principles and best practices.

To define the overall architectural landscape of FM and in consultation with business, design solutions that facilitate the execution of the Finance strategy.

The incumbent is required to influence design thinking in support of the strategic vision, operate at a strategic and operational level to deliver and execute against an integrated architecture landscape.


Job Description:


Accountability:
Develop and maintain the Architectural Landscape

  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the Finance strategy.
  • Develop and define highlevel business architecture requirements in order to facilitate execution of the Finance strategy.
  • Develop an architectural landscape/blueprint for Finance to support the execution of the predefined strategy.
  • Use the architectural landscape/blueprint to determine how key components will interact and develop a set of new capabilities or required competencies.
  • Make an active contribution to architecture governance processes.
  • Utilise the FM design authority to ensure that specific business needs and problems are addressed by the highlevel business architecture and to ensure that the designed solutions are aligned to the architectural landscape.
  • Manage the translation of the business architecture into "fitforpurpose" operating models.
  • Review key strategic initiatives to ensure these comply with the analysis and design principles which support the Finance architecture.
  • Define the rules of engagement/accountability splits between the Finance Architecture team and the other related Group functions including Africa Technology, Group Treasury and Group Risk.
  • Assist the Head: Finance Change to inform Finance on the purpose, usage and business value of implementing enterprise architecture governance.

Accountability:
Architect Integrated and Aligned Business Solutions

  • Actively participate in the development of integrated and aligned solutions that will bridge the gap between current
- and future-state capabilities.

  • Work with specialists and other key role players across multiple areas (within Finance, across Treasury & Risk, the Absa Group and Barclays) to formulate integrated, fit for purpose solutions that are aligned to the Finance architectural landscape and which support the strategic roadmap.
  • Ensure the design integrity of the business architecture.
  • Mentor business architects in the solution design process, which may extend to working with business partners (including project managers, business analysts, etc.) during the implementation of business solutions.
  • Continuously understand the immediate and broader business context to inform and ensure innovative and 'cuttingedge' solutioning.

Accountability:
Roadmap Design and Journey Management

  • Develop a clear and detailed roadmap for execution with aligned goals to track progress against and propose appropriate Business Custodianship.
  • Provide progress feedback to Head: Finance Change at the required intervals.
  • Act as a conduit that translates agreed business requirements to execution partners.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in managing aspects associated with strategic execution.

Accountability:
Provide Architecture & Solution Thought Leadership

  • Assist in continuously innovating by finding new and different ways of solving problems and of exploiting opportunities.
  • Position and communicate the Finance architecture to the respective stakeholders.
  • Engage effectively and build relationships with internal business partners.
  • Work with other solution experts within the Absa Group and across Barclays in building a robust and appropriate business architecture.
  • Develop networks with industry peers to share solutions and practices.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of industry standards e.g. TOGAF to ensure alignment with suitable group architecture models, standards, templates and training interventions.

Accountability:
Assist in the development of strategy.

  • Ensure continuous research in enterprise architecture in order to inform future state scenario planning, define what other research is required and source the information.
  • Ensure that available information is analysed and packaged into scenarios for consideration by the Finance Change governance committees. Facilitate discussions to define/refine the Finance Strategy and tactical interventions if the operating environment requires it.
  • Work with the Finance Change governance committees to articulate a clear set of principles defining Finance's
