Description

The role demands an experienced Senior SQL Developer / Programmer that will be responsible to oversee all data management and development aspects of the CEM platform, as well as act as the Team Lead across its associated projects, including documentation, timelines, staff and vendor oversight.

The role can be divided into 3 main areas:
Data Management

Managing the database platform and associated services, ingesting, transforming data, implementing data retention policies, developing and maintaining database processes for Unification of data, identifying performance bottlenecks, optimising data solutions and accessing external data.

Development

Managing and developing the necessary backend processes required to fulfil the CEM platform duties, services and requirements.

Platform

Managing the expanding and optimising of our data pipeline architecture within the Microsoft Azure platform, as well as Managing optimising data flow and collection from various data sources and systems.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Data Management

• Provide technical input into Cloud tools and database designs, analysis, and interpretation of data
• Develop and maintain databases, including some programming in database systems such as Microsoft SQL
• Develop and revise data management plans
• Develop, implement, and maintain all datarelated SOPs
• Quality assures all data is in accordance with SOPs
• Develop, define, and manage DMrelated timelines, deliverables, and performance metrics
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of data management for respective projects
• Assist in compiling monthly Project/EXCO/MANCO reports as required
• Oversee the maintenance of the database and database servers.
• Oversee reporting of any data quality and data errors reported by Data Unification process and other data testing mediums.

Development

• Development of database features laid out in the Sprint planning
• Conduct efficient development on specifications relating to the SQL environment
• Develop and guide the monitoring of data unification processes

Platform

• Oversee changes and implementations on the Azure data platform relating to API's Implemented and data being received or serviced to Aloecrest consumers
• Oversee the maintenance of the API's/Functions and other Database consuming codebase systems
• Manage that the platforms data related errors are reported and resolved regarding to Data consuming systems
• Ensure that the Aloecrest change process was followed

Staff management

• Attend to all staffing requirements and administration
• Supervise and manage the duties of subordinates to ensure optimal staff utilization and maintenance of sound labor relations
• Perform and facilitate performance development and assessments
• Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action
• Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organization
• Promote harmony, teamwork, and sharing of information

EDUCATION

• BSC Degree OR relevant technology advanced diploma at NQF level
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate qualification (AZ103)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP
• MCITP/MCSE or equivalent certifications/experience demonstrating cloud/networking/infrastructure knowledge

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience supporting and working with crossfunctional teams in a dynamic environment.
• 10+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role

KNOWLEDGE

• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Knowledge of Oracle, Visual Basic, or C# will be an advantage
• Thorough, with good attention to detail
• Ordered and systematic with a tendency to adhere to protocols
• Good administrative skills are required together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database packages
