    Description

    Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor/Manager

    Starke Ayres is a leading African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower and lawn seed varieties for commercial and home garden planting.

    Role Summary:

    The purpose of this role is to monitor seed processing and movement according to schedules and procedures, ensuring timeous distribution to internal and external parties.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise shipping process execution and documentation, including local, import and export methods.
    • Choose established shipping methods for distributing seed, engineering project items, agricultural implements, research supplies, and promotional items.
    • Confirm loading and equipment needs.
    • Provide weekly progress feedback on planned in and out bound deliveries.
    • Ensure deliveries to Depots are executed according to orders and instructions on SageX3.
    • Prepare and plan space for new seed production, procured and finished goods inventory.
    • Monitor workflow and identify alternatives to manage volume and time requirements.
    • Regularly monitor receiving and packing schedules to meet deadlines.
    • Sampling of seed lots according to ISTA rules.
    • Coordinate day-to-day activities of staff within the warehouse to ensure goods are properly moved, handled, and stored safely.
    • Ensure regular inspections and maintenance are done on vehicles, forklifts, cold-room, and buildings.
    • Ensure quality of seed and products in the warehouse by maintaining optimal warehouse conditions.
    • Apply, monitor, and implement all OHSA measures in respect of the warehouses, cold rooms, and vehicles.
    • Monitor and ensure that seed lots prioritized for immediate sales due to age and / or quality of seed is executed accordingly - FIFO.
    • Coordinate and participate in bi-annual stock takes.
    • Control monthly expenses.
    • Implement operational policies and procedures in the warehouse environment.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Essential)
    • Tertiary degree or Diploma in Production and Supply Chain or similar (preferential)
    • 3 years as store planner
    • 5 years as warehouse supervisor
