Group Actuarial Team Lead

Johannesburg
Be a team leader of the actuarial and technical experts. Work alongside the Group Quotes Lead.

Manage a matrix structure where your direct reports have a dotted line to the Group Team Lead.
Lead/participate in the various projects undertaken by the life team e.g. tenders, specific client projects, minor basis updates, industry studies and experience analyses.
Provide ongoing development and maintenance support for the group life Quotations tool, along with the excel version.
Manage group monitoring in collaboration with the Product and Pricing Monitoring analyst.
Engage with Financial Management and Reporting team to ensure that group scheme profitability is reflected and is monitored.
Review complex employee benefit, credit life and funeral quotes for all regions and provide recommendations while balancing risk management and commercial value.
Ensure the actuarial and risk management standards are met in the pricing activities carried out by the team.
Build technical profile in the industry (e.g. delivery of technical content to seminars, conferences, engaging with external partners) and building technical depth within the team to ensure staff become functional experts.
Coordinate with client managers, underwriting, claims and operations to deliver product propositions.
Support client management strategy e.g. perform research for and accompany client managers as functional expert.
Support Head of Product and Pricing in providing high quality actuarial consulting service to clients in the area of pricing, product development and risk management.
Qualified actuary with 5 years' relevant experience in
Life insurance or reinsurance business with expertise.

Pricing experience with sound technical understanding of Life products including mortality and morbidity rate setting and experience (Group business experience).
