About the Role

MANCOSA, a registered private higher education institution, is seeking an academic leader to provide teaching and learning facilitation within the Mathematics Education Specialization.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Lecture Facilitation: Deliver both face-to-face and online lectures for students.
2. Academic Support: Offer one-on-one consultations to support students' academic progress.
3. Assessment Design: Develop both formative and summative assessments for students.
4. Curriculum Review: Review and moderate curriculum content and assessments.
5. Grading and Feedback: Grade assessments and provide feedback to stakeholders.
6. Programme Coordination: Serve as a Programme Coordinator or Module Coordinator for Mathematics Education programmes.
7. Programme Reviews: Undertake programme reviews and implement quality management practices.
8. iTEACHlab Assistance: Assist with activities in the iTEACHlab and Work Integrated Learning department.
9. Short Learning Programmes: Develop short learning programmes (SLPs) for students.
10. Research and Publishing: Engage actively in research and publishing activities within the field of Mathematics Education.
11. Pastoral Care: Identify students at-risk and provide constant pastoral care.
12. Administrative Tasks: Perform programme and quality management administrative tasks as required.
13. Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in the Mathematics Education Specialization for content resource development.

Requirements

Education: A Master's Degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.

Experience: At least 2-3 years of lecturing experience in Mathematics Education, with a focus on school-based experience and teaching CAPS.

Skills and Knowledge:

1. Distance and Online Education: Familiarity with distance and online education models.
2. Learning Management Systems: Proficiency in using learning management systems.
3. South African Higher Education Framework: Working knowledge of the South African higher education regulatory framework.
4. Time Management: Ability to work within pre-determined time frames and deadlines.
5. Communication: Confident communication skills and professionalism in interactions.
6. Teamwork: Collegial team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Internet, and Email.
8. Writing and Reporting: Excellent writing and reporting skills.
9. Ethics and Confidentiality: High level of ethics and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
