Job Title: Mechanical/Mechatronics Test Technician

Located in Airport City, Cape Town.

Salary:

Junior level (2-3 years preferred): R20,000 - R30,000 per month
Mid-level (3-5 years): R30,000 - R40,000 per month

About the Job

This full-time position involves testing of engine and propulsion systems under the guidance of a System Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field, along with 2-5 years of industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Analysis:

Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (Siemens NX)
Collaborate with engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards

System Integration:

Understand integration of mechanical, electrical, and software systems within powerplant
Assist in development of system tests
Support troubleshooting and resolution of system integration issues
Manage data acquisition system for engine facility and flight platform

Understand manufacturing processes and tolerances
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design manufacturability
Support development of manufacturing documentation and work instructions

System Oversight:

Support engineering team in maintaining system configuration during development and introduction of new powerplant options
Collaborate with design and integration teams to ensure system integrity and performance

Requirements:

Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Siemens NX
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and testing techniques
Experience with data analysis and programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tolerances
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
