    About the role

    A category expert within Haleon and with our Customers within the Comex Department, reporting to Head of Category & Customer Marketing. Develops and executes category strategy, insights and solutions to deliver profitable company and brand share growth, elevating Haleon brands in the face of our competitors and driving core relationships with customers.

    Key responsibilities

  • Category expert, bringing the outside in and enabling brand, customer teams and ultimately customers with key category insights to drive incremental growth
  • Aggregates multiple sources of data to deliver insights, trends and recommendations across the brand portfolio to determine where category growth will come from
  • Adapts global category vision and strategy making it relevant to South Africa
  • Manages merchandising strategy and planograms /space allocation of the category within customers
  • Manages end-to-end in-store category and brand at shelf projects
  • Acts as category captain within our JBP customers and is primary expert /go-to for customers on guidance in growing the categories in which Haleon competes, developing and executing category platforms across retailers
  • Leads, drives and conducts category reviews with retailers by category – SKU level analytics, shelf design /planograms, pre-and-post financial outcomes. May include recommendations on pricing and promotion optimization strategies. Includes making category growth driving recommendations which enhance Haleons' distribution, share of shelf and shelf placement
  • Expert in the use of Shopper Science Lab technologies and leveraging the tools for greater collaboration and category performance
  • Has a growth mindset and high learning agility. Is a team player and focuses on common goals across the organisation, role modelling Haleon values and expectations
  • Qualifications and skills

    Essential

  • A university degree, or equivalent
  • 5 years Customer Management /Retail Analyst /Customer Marketing Experience/Category Management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Numeracy and finance skills
  • Strong commercial understanding /experience
  • Strong proficiency in excel and planograming software /JDA /dotActiv
  • Preferred

  • 2 years category management with previous track-record preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous use of varied data sources an advantage
