PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE

This position' primary role is to facilitate the running of the multiple sports offered at the Club and to assist with managing the sports team.

This position also encourages Member participation by organizing and communicating about sporting events with members. Liaises with various sporting bodies/sub-clubs for the various sports leagues and teams on offer. To increase sports awareness at Club by designing sports programs to best suit the Member interests.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Growing membership participation and usage of the Club through sports.
  • Assistance in the management of the Sports Department.
  • Ensuring the sports team is equipped with the necessary equipment and resources for their functions.
  • Assist in drafting sports communication for the newsletter, notice boards and social media platforms.
  • Attend selected sporting subcommittees / forum discussions.
  • Coordinating events throughout the year for the various sporting codes.
  • Prepare monthly reports on subclubs and present to Sports Manager.
  • Communication with various sporting bodies/organizations i.e. ASA, CGA, TSA etc.
  • Manage sports department stock and conduct monthly stock takes.
  • Ensure the junior sports zones run effectively.
  • Participate in sporting events for members when appropriate to do so
  • Participate in Club rides to ensure the correct routes followed and that Members are safe.
  • Help grow the sports section and participation, by engaging with members to obtain feedback and assess ways to improve.
  • Assist in conceptualizing new events for existing sports and subclubs.
  • Motivate and encourage participants at events.
  • Coaching regular classes and standingin if trainer is unable to make it.
  • Showcase the Club's sports offering to new members, and include them on our database communicating upcoming sporting events.
  • Research and propose new sporting disciplines not offered at the Club.
  • Assist with management requests as required from time to time.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

  • Strong Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Great social and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills (MS Office
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced user)
  • Knowledge of Jonas Software (Advantage)
  • Fluent in social media platforms Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram
  • Creative and forwardthinking.
  • Independent and capable of managing tasks with minimum supervision.

MINIMUM / PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years' experience in a similar role or sporting environment.
  • Physically fit and active individual.
  • Physically able to assemble sporting equipment.
  • Active knowledge in the field of sports, and stay up to date with sporting events.
  • Readily available to participate in sports or socials.

QUALIFICATION

  • Matric or Senior Certificate.
  • Tertiary qualification in Sports Marketing or Sports Management (preferred).
  • Valid SA driver's license and own reliable transport.
