Main Purpose of the Job:

The primary purpose of this role is to expand and strengthen the customer base and market share of the organization by promoting and selling its premium products through exemplary service and competitive pricing.

The role necessitates achieving designated sales targets.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Attend to walkin and phonein clients
  • Enhance customer awareness and sustain or grow market share
  • Foster optimal growth through exceptional customer service
  • Achieve and surpass annual budget targets (essential)
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries
  • Initiate followups on deliveries as needed
  • Provide written quotations to customers
  • Regularly visit clients
  • Ensure alignment of customer credit limits with sales budgets
  • Support tender pricing during office hours
  • Analyze customer requirements and submit weekly reports to the branch manager
  • Follow up on factory orders (backlog report) and update clients on progress
  • Check material availability when preparing quotes
  • Maintain customer pricelists and the customer database
  • Contribute to monthly material forecasts
  • Assist clients with cutting lists and drawing office requests
  • Aid in resolving customer complaints
  • Provide technical information, brochures, and installation procedures to customers
  • Perform general administrative tasks and maintain personal filing
  • Support additional tasks as directed by management

Qualifications and Experience:


  • High School Matric Certificate
  • Relevant Sales/Marketing diploma/degree (an advantage)
  • Proficiency in Computer Literacy, especially MS Office
  • Experience with Syspro or similar software
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a sales representative in the steel industry
  • Solid knowledge of the South African roof sheeting industry (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Capacity to perform well under pressure

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Sales representative in the steel industry: 1 year (required)
