    Description

    Reporting into the Head of Supply, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of all of the sample processing conducted at the on-site laboratory as well as auditing the sampling methods. This role requires focus, proactiveness, motivation, strong leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to ensure the efficient and effective turnover of samples of different types of material containing gold ore.

    You will be responsible for managing an already established laboratory that will need to possess the capabilities of processing up to five thousand individual samples per day whilst maintaining an extremely high degree of accuracy.

    Timeliness is a huge factor and your ability to work under pressure with a firm sense of deadlines will be vital resource

    Duties will include, but not limited to:

    1. Responsible for all sample preparation of raw materials and in-house laboratory activities (comprises of both strategic and hands-on management).
    2. Plans, organizes and supervises the samples in accordance with production schedules and requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
    3. Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
    4. Active participant in cost-savings, pipeline activities.
    5. Implements performance measurement & KPI tracking for operative responsible area. Launch corrective actions for underperforming metrics to ensure performance standards are met.
    6. High level of research and development capabilities to understand ore types and best practices in relation to processing procedures.
    7. Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management including being responsible for all reporting needs for the Supply department.
    8. Provide support in several areas, including issue resolution, financial performance, adherence to contract terms and solution design and pricing, as needed.
    9. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on laboratory performance, analyse key metrics, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
    10. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory authorities to maintain positive relationships and drive operational excellence.
    11. Continuously stay informed of technological advancements and process improvements which may impact operations. Propose recommendations for improvement to actively grow the department
    12. Support and improve upon quality initiatives designed to meet lab goals.

    Qualifications:

    • The ideal candidate for this position should have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferably with a Master's Degree),
    • Min 5 years of practical experience in sample preparation/laboratory/process engineering in the gold mining sector,
    • proven experience as a sample preparation or laboratory manager, ideally in an international environment
    • Min 3 tears strong leadership skills, business background, technical knowledge of sampling techniques and systems, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in relevant software and data analysis tools.
