PURPOSE OF POSTION

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Gathering requirements:

  • Meet with internal and external stakeholders to gather an understanding of their operational objectives and system requirements.
  • Gather an understanding of gaps within existing implementations and work towards closing identified gaps.

Database Maintenance:

  • Ensure that all databases are maintained, and to best efforts that data is uniform.
  • Establish database maintenance plans.
  • Where data integrity is in question, draft and propose a plan which can be used to restore integrity and meet reporting requirements.

New System Implementations:

  • Responsible for populating client take on workbooks.
  • Review populated data collection workbooks for integrity.
  • Data population and imports.
  • Ensuring that all data links are performed.

Software Testing:

  • Test new deployments in accordance with system requirements and functional specifications.
  • Building test cases within stagging environments.

User Management:

  • Create and maintain users and user roles.
  • Assign user access based on roles and responsibilities.

Data Extracts:

  • Responsible to running adhoc data extracts.

Data Changes:

  • Responsible to perform data updates.
  • Perform data imports and ensure that are database links are completed.
  • Ensure that all SOP's are followed before making any data changes.

System Failure:

  • Act as second line support in case of system failures.
  • Keep record of all system failures and propose methods to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Notify the Systems Manager of systems failure.

System Support:

  • Act as second line system support in case of queries for all systems.
  • Work closely with the first line of support and transfer skills.
  • Server Maintenance
  • Perform frequent checks and confirm the server health.
  • Execute adhoc database health checks.
  • Ensure that available disk space on the servers is always more than 10%.

Support and Training:

  • Frequently conduct training with users on systems and ensure they are acquainted with specific system functions and associated processes.
  • Provide users with support on reporting platforms and reporting solutions.
  • Assume responsibility to report any system related risks/concerns to the Systems Manager. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with Internal Clients, External Clients and Service Providers.
  • Tracks and resolves problems promptly and effectively.
  • Ensures optimal service.
  • Ensures that deadlines are met.
  • Obtains and conveys information as needed.
  • Logs all problems including root cause and resolution information.
  • Promotes goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with FM staff, management and other departments/divisions.
  • Liaise with Business Process Analyst to support ongoing system alignment with business processes.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Good communication and working relationship and assistance with internal and external clients.
  • Keeping management well informed.
  • Prepared to go the extra mile to get work done.
  • Maintenance of Concept Evolution as per Standards.
  • Ensure User / Business requirements and system spec signoff on all reporting requirement.
  • Track and resolve problems with systems promptly and effectively.
  • Obtain and conveys information as needed.
  • Personal growth and development.
  • Time management.

Education/Certification:


  • Matric

Required Technical Knowledge:


  • Excellent knowledge of database structures
  • Microsoft Server
  • SQL Server
  • Excel (Power Query, Pivots, Graphs)
  • Power BI

Experience Required:


  • Skills / Abilities:
  • Able to work well independently and in a team.
  • Able to adapt to different projects and operational requirements.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
