    This role is responsible for research, analysis and provision of relevant information, and for making recommendations on alternative investments. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.

    The role is in the Shareholder Investment Strategy team which forms part of the Group Balance Sheet Management (GBSM) team. The role predominantly focusses on the roll-out of the OML Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) framework across the Group, with the aim of maximizing the risk-adjusted returns on shareholder assets.

    Key Result Areas

  • Assist in driving the roll-out of the SAA framework across all Group subsidiaries
  • Revision and implementation of investment mandates
  • Identify and implement investment strategies
  • Tracking investment performance, including setting benchmarks and performance targets, setting risk limits.
  • Performing supporting analytics to assist in the evaluation of new investment opportunities.
  • Ongoing market surveillance of investment opportunities locally, across Africa and abroad.
  • Assisting with asset manager due diligence, selection, and monitoring.
  • Compilation of investment reports for relevant investment committees.
  • Analyse investment ideas for any tactical deviations from the SAA across the Group in order to drive shareholder value creation in the shareholder portfolios. Ongoing research in investment industry developments and portfolio structuring techniques.
  • Providing investment guidance and mandate support to other African business units.
  • Perform investment reporting and ad hoc reporting to various committees (capital committee, etc.)
  • Understanding and alignment with the Group's capital management framework to ensure capital efficient investment risks are taken across the group in line with risk-return targets.
  • Requirements, Qualifications and Experience required

  • Actuary / CA / CFA / MBA / Other relevant post-graduate degree.
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years' relevant experience in investment reporting and investment management.
  • Technical experience required
  • Strong investment reporting / investment back-office background.
  • Ability to collaborate across the Group with various stakeholders.
  • Fund management / Portfolio management experience an advantage, particularly in a fund of funds environment.
