    Key Purpose of the role

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the research, development and implementation of innovative and market-disruptive products that form part of the Discovery Corporate & Employee Benefits business unit. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to play a key management role in a fast-paced R&D environment, with significant exposure to senior leaders within the business.

    Key outcomes may include but are not limited to:
    • Research into new products and risks to make informed and innovative product development decisions.
    • Key involvement in the design, development and implementation of new products.
    • Analytical and pricing capabilities to understand the financial implications and parameters involved when developing new products, to ensure profitable results.
    • Collaboration with various teams within Corporate & Employee Benefits and the group on product development and strategic projects.
    • Working with other teams to ensure products are operating in an efficient and accurate manner.
    • Monitoring and reporting ongoing results to ensure products are producing optimal results.
    • Working with external stakeholders as part of the R&D cycle.
    Personal Attributes and Skills

    The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following critical attributes and competencies:

    • Able to work collaboratively and balance multiple priorities
    • Comfortable with change and a fast-paced work environment

    • Confidence around presenting and communicating with a wide range of audiences in the business and externally
    Education and Experience
    • Qualified actuary
    • At least 4 years working experience, preferably in a R&D environment
    • 3 - 5 years' experience in a Product development or technical marketing role (advantageous);
    • 3 - 5 years' experience in life insurance and/or investments (advantageous)
    • Leadership qualities
    • Strong written and verbal communication, with an ability to simplify ambiguous information
    • Project and people management
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word & Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Knowledge of modelling packages such as SPSS, Python or R is an advantage
