IT Technician (Printing, Security Cameras, Telephony)
Claremont


A private academic institution seeks to appoint an ICT Technician (Printing, Security Cameras & Telephony), who will support the _
Printing & Reproduction_ area of the ICT Department.


The ideal incumbent will have the relevant IT qualifications and competencies, coupled with 3 years 'hands-on' experience as a Technician in a similar role.


Requirements:


  • A+ Qualification
  • Knowledge of the printing industry; be able to advise on equipment and suppliers/partners.
  • Knowledge of the security and telephone industry; be able to advise on equipment and suppliers/partners.
  • People person, who can interact with pupils and staff members.
  • Individual that enjoys problem solving and researching solutions.
  • Someone who does not need to be micromanaged and is capable of taking initiative.
  • An individual that is 'calm' and organized in stressful situations.
  • Forward planner and punctual.
  • Be able to multitask and prioritise actions based on nature and urgency of requests.
  • Ability to interact with service providers, obtain quotes and manage their services on campus.
  • Ability to maintain Asset Registry and regularly check key points and keep them organised.
  • Ability to efficiently research problems and their solutions

Responsibilities:_

- managing and fulfilling the needs of a printing unit,
- supporting printing devices across departments, and
- administering and supporting the security camera and telephony devices throughout an organisation.

Printing:_

  • Knowledge of the printing industry; be able to advise on equipment and suppliers/partners.
  • Manage the Print Unit and all resources therein.
  • Liaise with suppliers for consumables orders and service contractors for maintenance and repair.
  • Fulfil daily staff request for copying, printing and binding as part of the Printing Unit.
  • Assist staff and pupils with 'Print Shop' services.
  • Support printing to Multi-Functional Printers and Network Printer on campus; maintain, upgrade or replace and configure MFPs/Printers when necessary.
  • Scanning and storage of staff/pupil files and other documents into the campus DMS.

Security Cameras & Telephony:_

  • Knowledge of the security and telephone industry; be able to advise on equipment and suppliers/partners.
  • Liaise with suppliers for new acquisitions and service contractors for maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain, upgrade or replace and configure
- security cameras and points,
- telephone handsets and points, and
- any other security or telephony devices, when necessary.

Tracking and Documentation:_

  • Support the Helpdesk; monitor and maintain call logs.
  • Maintain inventory listings and documentation of all processes.
