Counsel - EEMEA, Cross-Border Services

Overview

Mastercard's Cross-Border Services team (XBS) is driving innovation and growth to meet today's demands for simple, certain, and secure international payments.

XBS is a portfolio of integrated assets and capabilities designed to service key verticals and multiple payment experiences.

Through a single connection, we enable partners the ability to reach a variety of endpoints—account, card, mobile wallet, or cash payout—nearly anywhere in the world.

XBS is seeking an experienced lawyer to join the Transfer Solutions legal team.

Role

This full-time role will report into the Senior Counsel in the Transfer Solutions legal team based in Dubai.

The key responsibilities for the role include:

Under supervision, structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts (including nonstandard or complex commercial and technology agreements) to support the growth of Cross-Border Services business.
Assist the Product and Sales Teams in managing and mitigating legal and commercial risks and, in general, support the business in its commercial and strategic role.
Work crossfunctionally across product and legal teams (including data privacy, intellectual property, antitrust, regulatory and compliance) to advise holistically on product constructs and commercial agreements to ensure that they are consistent with corporate strategy, internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
Support special projects while continuing to handle a steady stream of daytoday matters.
Identifying needed process improvements and efficiencies to increase ease of doing business, including development and maintenance of templates.
Conduct training of global Law Department policies such as contract policy training.
Managing external counsel within budget.

All About You

You must have a law degree LLB or equivalent and qualified to practice law and in good standing in one or more jurisdiction (s). May have a master's degree in law, tech or similar.
Experience in legal practice in fields drawn from regulation, technology, corporate, and commercial and familiarity and experience with laws and regulations in the banking, payments and remittance space will be considered favorably.
Complex transactional legal experience and supporting product teams at a reputable law firm or as an inhouse counsel.
Keen business insight and strong communication skills to interact confidently and effectively with internal clients, Mastercard customers and law and policy colleagues, including senior management.
Strong drafting and negotiating skills with the ability to understand and simplify complex concepts, issues and deal structures.
Ability to operate in an agile and less than full information environment and ability to make quick but calculated decisions while managing risk effectively.
A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, good commercial judgment, creative approach to problemsolving, pragmatic, solutionsoriented, business minded, nimble, and have a "let's make it happen" attitude with the abilit
