Housekeepers needed in Brakenfell / Belville / Boston / Parrow / Goodwood Areas of Cape Town (
MUST RESIDE IN THE SURROUNDING AREAS)


Position Overview:

As a housekeeper for our Elderly / Frail Care homes located in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our elderly residents.

Your role is vital in upholding our commitment to providing a high standard of care and ensuring the well-being of our residents.


Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitization

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting common areas, resident rooms, and bathrooms.
  • Ensure all surfaces, furniture, and fixtures are properly sanitized and maintained to prevent the spread of germs and infections.
  • Regularly disinfect hightouch areas such as doorknobs, handrails, and light switches.

Laundry and Linen Care

  • Collect, sort, and launder linens, towels, and residents' clothing according to established procedures.
  • Ensure clean linens are readily available for residents and maintain an organized linen storage area.

Room Maintenance

  • Make beds, change sheets, and tidy up resident rooms daily.
  • Report any maintenance issues or repair needs to the appropriate staff members for prompt resolution.
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks as needed, such as replacing light bulbs or unclogging drains.

Waste Management

  • Dispose of trash and recyclables in designated containers, adhering to waste management guidelines.
  • Monitor waste levels and ensure bins are emptied regularly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Assistance with Special Events

  • Assist with setting up and cleaning common areas for special events, gatherings, or activities for residents.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure events run smoothly and the environment remains welcoming for residents and visitors.

Compliance and Safety
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.

Report any safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate supervisor for corrective action.

Participate in training programs related to infection control, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Proven experience in housekeeping or janitorial roles, preferably in a healthcare or residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Compassion, patience, and respect for elderly residents.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding professional ethics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.

Working Conditions:


  • This position may require working on weekends, evenings, or holidays based on the needs of the facility.
  • The work environment may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and biological hazards.
  • Physical demands include bending, lifting, pushing, and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
