The position

As Director FCA South Africa, you have the overall responsibility for Financial Control & Accounting in the South Africa-area responsible for IFRS accounts, local accounting, and compliance.

You manage a team of 7 people and together you ensure and execute local accounting, financial and tax compliance for all legal entities in South Africa and provide support and expertise in accounting and compliance related topics.

You are responsible for setting up robust processes and work procedures within the team as well as between your team and other parts of the company and the Volvo Group.

You also need to take active part in defining and developing the internal control structures and increase the internal control awareness on all levels in the company.

You are not afraid to take decisions, but you have a feeling for when anchoring is needed.


Within FCA South EMEA you will be part of a global and diverse team of skilled and high-performance professionals who work with passion and trust each other in an open and positive atmosphere.


Reporting:

The Director FCA South Africa will report to the VP FCA South EMEA region and a member of the regional management team.


Job Objectives:


  • Lead and manage the South African accounting team.
  • Be responsible for Accounting and Financial reporting according to Group and Local GAAP as well as agreed output to TD/BA locally.
  • Hold responsibility for tax administration and compliance incl. transfer pricing execution.
  • Play a proactive role in coaching and advising the TD/BA and CMT within Volvo Group Southern Africa in accounting and compliance topics.
  • Be a strong Champion for the Volvo Group culture (Volvo values, Code of Conduct etc.) and an ambassador/coach for the lean way of working.

Who are you?

To be successful in this position:

  • You hold a university degree in accounting or similar.
  • You are a natural leader, used to take the chair in a team and you have a minimum of 45 years leadership experience
  • You have a holistic business and process awareness and understand the link to the financial statement.
  • You can identify the key control points in the processes and secure adherence from a financial reporting risk perspective.
  • You are appreciated for you communication skills and good team spirit approach.
  • You demonstrate analytical skill, selfdrive, high integrity and a structured, and wellorganized way of working.
  • You have a solutionoriented mindset who deals with different matters in a logical and structured manner, and you have a candoattitude and not afraid of taking own initiative.
  • You have a strong ethical compass and are not afraid to speak up.
