RCL FOODS is recruiting for an
Import Export Analyst to join our
Vector Logistics Division team based in
Durban. The purpose of the role is to work in conjunction with the Import Export Manager to formulate, coordinate and implement the International Excellence Strategy and Ensuring correct international trading procedures and processes are in place to achieve productivity targets and take ownership over change management requirements across the Import Export Process.


This role will be responsible for reporting on, and providing insight into, all areas of international trading and identify areas for continual improvement through corrective actions and implementation of new processes and to provide a key customer centric focus on creating new import export trading models and providing technical advancement in this area.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Strategic Execution:

Influence the delivery of key strategic objectives and international targets.

Maintain close interaction with the different functional areas across the supply chain with new project take-on's.


Perform research into global trading situations and statutory requirements and anticipate future market opportunities, by making recommendations to drive volume growth in this space.


Operational Efficiencies:

Identify and unlock operational efficiencies to achieve best practices.


Manage the commercial and financial elements for the department, by calculating all pricing models and maintaining monthly landed pricing templates.

Drive profitability by owning the data-analytics process, analyzing the process, and making recommendations on improvement initiatives. Liaising with internal/external stake holders to address operational challenges.

Incorporating systematization opportunities to develop sustainable ways of working and championing projects related to this area.

Optimizing efficiencies and vehicle/container utilization through planning tools.


Identifying cost saving initiatives through active engagement with all stake holders and performing independent exercises to quantity the respective impact.

Utilize regular communication channels and team meetings to promote continuous improvements and best practice daily across the internal teams.

Drive agreed change initiatives through collaboration and cross functional team work.

Involvement in system advancements and new project developments.


Reporting
Report daily/weekly/monthly on export service levels across all markets, both internally and externally.

Provide intelligence into the reporting and analytical insight, using Microsoft Power-Bi.

Make recommendations on corrective actions to encourage volume growth.


Keep current with trends and issues in the industry, including new customs regulations, veterinary procedures, import requirements and market entry changes.

Share with and report on reliable data and information to management teams to enable accurate business decisions.


Technical Expertise
Provide veterinary procedural expertise in cross functional meetings with colleagues, suppliers and customers to enable relevant decision making.


Proactively identify opportunities and risks within the business and make recommendations on mitigation strategies and contingency plans for all identified risks.


Create and document new Import Export models, through engagement with all stakeholders and implement the process within the international planning team.

Perform pricing exercises and calculate landed costings delivered in-country.

Perform investigations to enable market access entry (i.e. trading agreements, tariff determinations, dutiable rates, pre-inspection requirements, import permit criteria and export requirements specifically relating to FMCG consumable products).

Involved in making informed decisions on the commercial viability and success of new product launches.


External Engagement
Providing insight to improve customer service levels.

Investigate route-cause analyses and corrective measures.

Liaising with external customers to understand their requirements and making recommendations to identify new business growth areas.

Maintaining relationships with strategic third partners and responsible for establishing Service Level Agreements and maintain rates discussions.

Holding service providers accountable to service level contracts.


Minimum Requirements:

BCOM Degree or minimum 2-year Diploma in International shipping

Minimum of 5 years working experience in an import export environment

Customs, Import, Export, Veterinary courses (advantageous)

FMCG Perishable background (advantageous)
