Role Purpose


The role of the Credit Analyst is to provide analysis and recommendations on potential credit investments as an input into the credit portfolio management process.


Requirements:


  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Relevant Honours degree, CA or CFA / working towards CFA (advantage)
  • 2+ years relevant experience in a banking or asset management environment
  • Practical experience working with credit market securities (including structured securities)
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Excel proficiency, with the ability to build corporate financial models (advantage)
  • Strong research acumen

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Custodian of the fixed income team credit process and philosophy.
  • Analysis of individual credit quality of borrowers in the fixed income team's investable universe.
  • Compile analyst reports with exposure recommendations on credit quality on a probability of default perspective.
  • Generate internal credit ratings for issuers in the investable universe.
  • Determine the fair value spread required before investing.
  • Contribute to the view on credit quality and pricing prior to exposure taken.
  • Reporting generation to the various governance committees.
  • Contributing member of the fixed income credit view in the TAA process
  • Contribute and enhance the credit research process.
  • Generating new credit opportunities for implementation in portfolios.
  • Regular engagement with management teams as part of our ESG process.
  • Contributor to the credit watch list and regular updates and reviews of existing credit exposures.
  • Making credit exposure calls independent of outside influence.
  • Analyse new credit investments and make recommendations for portfolio inclusions.
  • Monitor existing investments within the portfolios.
  • Maintain updated information per investment.
Report to the Committee on credit issues within the portfolio.

  • Integrate market information into investment views.
  • Assist the Business Development and Marketing departments with client communications and investment presentations.
  • Present at client events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Participate in external networking and representation on related forums.
  • Contribute to a client service excellence culture which builds enduring relationships and allows team to provide exceptional client service.
  • Drive efforts to improve client service and fair treatment of fixed income clients.
  • Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
