    Description

    Job Title: Design Engineer - Railway OHTE

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop Electrical Overhead Traction Equipment (OHTE) construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and railway OHTE design standards.
    • Collaborate with contractors and other construction professionals to ensure that engineering designs are feasible and meet all client project requirements.
    • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other requisite engineering tools to create and refine construction project designs, including 3D models and animations.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.
    • Ensure that construction projects meet statutory and regulatory requirements and adhere to railway safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
    • Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary project team to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with defined quality standards.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Registered Professional Engineer with ECSA.
    • Minimum of ten years of OHTE Railway Design experience.
    • Five years of the ten years post-professional registration dedicated to Substation and Transmission Line design.
    • Experience in Construction Management is essential.
    • Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools such as ACAD, BIM, and/or Revit is mandatory.

    Qualification:

    • BSc/BEng Degree or BTech (Electrical).
    • Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
