Delaire Graff Estate is looking for a committed, passionate person who has a love for farming, vineyard operations, the lifecycle of the vine and the outdoors to join our team as a Vineyard Supervisor.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General farm management (vineyards/olives);
  • Team supervision (team of 1020 people);
  • Ensure that all instructions are carried out properly by the team;
  • Continuous control and ensure productivity standards;
  • Recordkeeping of staff;
  • Managing the irrigation system;
  • Drive ethical systems in the team;
  • Maintenance of machinery, equipment;
  • Operating tractors to perform tasks such as mowing, spraying, coupling/uncoupling of tractor implements;
  • Assist with vineyard work: pruning, shoot thinning, shoot positioning, fruit thinning, leaf thinning, grape maturity sampling, grape harvesting and transportation;

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Preferably postgraduate qualification (Matric);
  • Knowledge of vineyard management/agriculture;
  • 5 years of previous experience in a similar position;
  • Basic understanding/knowledge of irrigation;
  • Knowledge of quality control systems (IPW);
  • Truck/Driver license code 10;
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations;
  • The ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time;
  • Ability to understand, read & write in English or Afrikaans;
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Willing to work overtime and under pressure (including weekends);
  • Innovative thinking and problem solver;
  • Honest, Flexibility and Accountability;
  • Punctual & selfdisciplined;
  • The ability to build strong relationships;
  • Can work independently.
