    Requirements:

  • An Honour's degree or relevant tertiary qualification at NQF 8 in supply chain management, logistics, accounting, or other related fields.
  • Seven years of experience in SCM or Commerce, including five years of management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes.
  • Membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS), SAICA, ACCA, or CIMA would be advantageous.
  • Higher Education experience would be an advantage.

    Duties:
  • Participate in the annual strategic planning cycle to assist the university business units in identifying essential SCM requirements and implementing business decisions for the rest of the organisation.
  • Establish and manage the functioning of the Bid Specification, Evaluation and Adjudication Committees.
  • Manage the effective utilisation of an approved supplier database per the approved SCM policy.
  • Drive continuous improvement in SCM to better serve our customers and suppliers.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a supplier performance management system.
  • Manage the annual SCM risk assessment and development of the SCM risk register and risk response plan.
  • Ensure regular review and reporting of supplier performance; facilitate feedback sessions to rectify issues.
  • Assist in guiding departments on budget guidelines, budget preparation models and the budget template for SCM (procurement plans).
  • Compile reports on the Directorate's performance at the required intervals reflecting all relevant stats.
  • Provide detailed, accurate information for internal and external audit purposes and action audit issues identified.
  • Drive the automation projects in the department to achieve efficiencies.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate staff and build a solid professional team.
  • Manage the performance of direct and indirect reports according to the university's performance management policy and procedure.
  • Participate in management forums within the University, contributing expertise to enable sound decision-making.
  • Manage and ensure that cost-effective and efficient travel management services are provided within the institution.
  • Ensure supply chain processes meet legal requirements and standards.
