QC Inspector - Mechanical

AMS Group a Mechanical and Civil Engineering company based in Ottery, Western Cape require
Level 2 QC's (SAIW) with the following skills.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

No criminal record
Be in physical good health
Set up a site inspection/audit programme, for site activities for subcontractors.
Ensure that fabrication documentation is fully compliant with client specification requirements and code requirements.
Monitor and control all inputs of fabrication in the areas such as welding, ensure that fabrication data, comprehensives and procedures are followed and up to date.
Compile control documents and Quality Control plans (QCP's) or Inspection test plans

(ITP'S). indicating intervention points for all parties involved with fabrication and testing

Review submitted documentation for accuracy to the standard for compliance to the client's requirements.
Compile weld maps, weld comprehensives
Calculate heat input and welding techniques
Be able to exercise control over PWHT
Ensure noncompliant reports NCR's) are captured, issued and closed out.
Ensure welding operators are briefed and instructed within the requirements and limitations of welding procedure (WPS) parameters.
Review, update and compile new and job specific procedures including welding procedures
Test and assign welders according to job scope requirements
Maintain welder matrix and prolong or retest welders as required
Carry out material control by means of material identification, ensuring all material complies with drawing, code and client specification requirements
Hands on approach with all inspection areas, such as visual inspection, fit up inspection, dimensional control, and final releases.
Ensure all parties involved are kept up to date and scheduled for inspection as hold points on

QCP's requires

Data book and control document reviews
Nondestructive testing coordination, document/procedure and technician qualification reviews
Redline drawings and submit for approvals
Complete exemption/concession documentation
Inform project team members, clients and EPCM of project status

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

SAIW level 2 inspector certificate with 10 years' experience.
10 years' related experience in QC/Welding environment.
Extensive and in depth knowledge of Codes, Standards and specifications. (ASME B31.3,

ASME IX, ASME II, ASME V, ASME VIII, AWS D1.1, ASTRON ENERGY SPECIFICATIONS,
API 650/65- Experience in managing artisans, workforce and teams

Must be familiar with establishing of welding procedures.
Must be familiar with NDT processes.

COMPETENCIES

General Knowledge of ISO
General Knowledge of ISO

Understanding of quality, environmental and safety management systems.
Knowledge of quality concepts, regulatory and safety governances.
Must be able to read Isometrics and P&ID Drawings.
Must be able to write QCPs & QM Plans
Good communication skills.
Reject components with poor or defective workmanship.
Liaise with 3rd Party inspection authority/AIA on NDT and visual inspection activities.
Qualify Welders and Compile Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQR's)
Computer Literate (Outlook, Excel, Word & Power Point)
Be able to communicate clearly.
Be technically competent.
