Scope of Work


The Incumbent will need to aerial lift equipment, such as cherry pickers or boom lifts, to lift personnel and materials to elevated heights to perform repairs or maintenance.


Duties and responsibilities for Arial bucket / Cherry picker / hydraulics operator:

  • Operate the cherry picker in a safe and controlled manner to lift, lower, and position workers, tools, or materials to desired heights.
  • Inspect the cherry picker before each use to ensure it is in proper working condition.
  • Safely navigate the cherry picker to designated work areas, taking into consideration obstacles and potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with workers on the ground to receive instructions, communicate effectively, and ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the cherry picker, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting safety features, and reporting any issues or concerns.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while operating the cherry picker, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use the cherry picker's controls and mechanisms accurately to manoeuvre, extend, and retract the boom or platform.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of the work area and address any potential hazards or risks before operating the cherry picker.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or near misses involving the cherry picker to the appropriate supervisor or safety personnel.

Qualifications for Arial bucket / Cherry picker / Hydraulics Operator

  • A valid Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  • Valid certification to operate Cherry picker.
  • Valid driver's license (Code 14)
  • At least 2 years working on sites either heavy industry or mining
