_WoMin, launched in October 2013, is an African ecofeminist alliance which works alongside organisations of women, peasants and mining-impacted communities, and in partnership with other sympathetic organisations, to make visible and publicise the impacts of extractives on peasant and working-class women; to support women's organising, movement-building and solidarity; and to advance, in alliance with numerous others, an African post-extractivist, ecologically just, womencentred alternative to the dominant destructive model of development.

Based in Johannesburg, WoMin seeks to appoint a


OPERATIONS MANAGER


The Operations Manager will provide leadership in respect of WoMin's operational framework (policies, systems, and processes) and ensuring operational alignment to the political vision and mission of WoMin.


Key responsibilities for the
Operations Manager will include:


  • Overseeing all operations and administrative matters of WoMin.
  • Leading the development of policies, systems, processes, and procedures for effective administration, operations, and HR.
  • Ensuring that all procedures, such as leave policy, logistics procedures, linked to the organisation are fully developed, managed, and reviewed at regular intervals.
  • Leading the HR function, by focusing on the following, namely developing HR plans, recruiting new staff, onboarding, managing leave, training, and skills development.
  • Overseeing the organisation's organogram and ensuring it remains accurate and up to date and update it when needed.
  • Contributing operational content and relevant information to organisational processes and the development of plans, proposals, and reports.
  • Participating in strategic planning sessions and aligning operational and HR initiatives with fiveyear strategy and annual outcomes and plans.
  • Leading the coordination of annual planning and budgeting process, as well as annual reporting with DD and ED.
  • Overseeing the development of consultant / contractor contracts.

The
Operations Manager must meet the following criteria:


  • Understand the building of operational and governance efficiency in the NGO context in South Africa given this is where WoMin is headquartered.
  • Have the skills and experience to build, monitor, identify gaps and adjust operational systems to maximise efficiency and fit in the context of an NGO.
  • Have occupied a senior operations role in a national, subregional or regional organisation for not less than six years and will have significant experience in the different elements of operations. We would like someone with some experience in a network or alliance organisation preferably at a subregional, Pan African, and international level.
  • Have some consciousness of and commitment to social struggles of women, black people, LGBTIQ people, African people etc.
  • Be able to lead, guide and nurture the people on her team and broadly in the organisation ensure their involvement in decisions that impact them.
  • Be a clear and impactful communicator who is open to listening, learning, reflecting and adapting.
  • Hold to the highest standards of integrity and accountability, and respect for confidentiality modelling this to the team, allies, and partners.
  • Be happy to work in a hybrid inperson and online work environment given that we are a heavily distributed team.
  • Driven selfstarter, able to work proactively and independently.
  • Focused, efficient person, able to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment, with strong time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong planning, decision making and problemsolving skills.
  • A team player, with welldeveloped interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English and at least one additional South African language.
  • Be able to work under pressure and multitask and be willing to work beyond official working hours.
