Business Lead / Senior Product Manager - Food Raw Materials

  • A wellknown chemical/food manufacturing and distribution group requires the above to head up their food division driving and managing both sales, principals and a sales team.

Minimum requirements for the role:


  • A university degree in business, engineering or science disciplines is preferred for this role.
  • Previous experience having worked in a senior sale and or management role within the food ingredient and related markets is essential for the role.
  • Must have a good knowledge of South African food manufacturing market main segments such as confectionary/bakery, meat and savoury, culinary, dairy, beverages etc.
  • Previous management or senior sales or product management experience having worked within the distribution of food specialty ingredients industry is preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, social competence and strong team player.
  • Must have an excellent ability for planning, development and implementation of sales and marketing strategies/business plans.
  • Must have a strong entrepreneurial personality.
  • Previous experience having managed a team of people is preferred.
  • Previous experience having worked within an international company is preferred.
  • Heading up the food division driving and managing both sales, principals and a sales team.
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies for the distribution of specialities food raw materials into the industry being able to achieve the organization's short and longterm sales goals.
  • Managing and driving new and existing principals and becoming the distributor of choice.
  • Working closely with the senior management team and group functions to implement and meet area objectives.
  • Developing and overseeing execution of business plans for the area.
  • Developing and executing a business plans, regular review and its management with the principals.
  • Monitoring sales performance for the product segment in the region including volume, price, receivables, and complaints.
  • Driving mid and longterm business plans and strategies and ensuring that the team meets business growth targets.
  • Supporting senior management on merger and acquisitions projects.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
