Primary Purpose


The ALM Manager will lead and support the continuing development of the banks ALM function, develop risk models and support the annual planning process.

Work collaboratively with departments such as Risk, Deposit & Lending BUs. Deliver high-standard work and be comfortable with change.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:


  • Graduate degree in Risk, Finance or Quantitative qualification, supplemented with professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, FRM, PRMIA, FIA/FASSA), with a strong analytical foundation
Experience

  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to effectively and credibly communicate with senior and nontechnical stakeholders
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in banking and financial services risk management and / or financial resources management
  • Minimum 5year banking and regulatory experience relating to asset and liability management
  • Experience with the delivery of highpriority projects and activities, under pressurized conditions
  • Experience with leading more junior team members with the execution of project tasks
  • Entrepreneurial and dynamic

  • General understanding of a bank's balance sheet, Regulations relating to Banks, regulatory developments, Accounting Standards (in particular IFRS 9 as it relates to hedge accounting),

  • Strong understanding of prudential requirements for banks
  • Asset liability management including: Liquidity, interest rate risk and market risk management

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to**:

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Support the management of liquidity, interest rate, foreign currency, hedging and other balance sheet risks

  • Asset liability management including: Liquidity, interest rate risk and market risk management
  • Market Risk Related regulatory requirements and implementation
  • Hedge Accounting

CUSTOMER CENTRICITY

  • A keen interest in supporting business development and contributing to the commercial success of our firm

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Assess system cost and functionalities and recommend improvements

  • Perform cost and benefit analysis on system used in the bank with a view to streamline Treasury operational capabilities
  • Project manage the implementation of the new ALM system

Provide project management leadership and supervise junior employees

  • Strong influencing skills, including building relationships with key stakeholders to drive solutions required
