Our client, a reputable role player in footwear distribution is seeking an experienced, results driven,
Purchasing Manager for the
Western Cape region.

To ensure items for the business are purchased at the best price, quality delivery & within allocated time frame. Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain.

Duties include the following, but not limited to:

  • Ensure the right material, right volume, right quality at the right price is delivered timeously
  • Planning and overseeing the work of the Buyers, including hiring, and managing
  • Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Crafting negotiation strategies and closing deals with optimal terms
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure product specification is met and necessary documentation is obtained
  • Perform seasonal standard cost exercise
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Product rationalization
  • Cost savings and aged stock reduction projects
  • Continuous improvement to optimize production efficiency
  • Overseeing and managing both local and import material orders timeously
  • Researching for improved available products on the market
  • Ensure ISO standards are maintained
  • Assisting with Tenders by sourcing material
  • Supplier visits and evaluation
  • Mentoring the buyers

Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in BCom or similar
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management of CIPS towards MCIPS certification would be advantageous
  • 7 Years' experience in Senior Purchasing/Procurement Management role within the manufacturing environment footwear or similar (purchase of leather, shoe elements etc)
  • Relevant purchasing knowledge of various raw materials etc.
  • Ability to manage a large Procurement budget
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP system experience related to purchasing and BOM's
  • Experience with Purchasing using Syspro and stock control using Excel/Inventory system
  • Good negotiation skills to manage and negotiate the best price with suppliers
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint

R P/A


Salary:
R35,000.00 per month
