    Description

    Job Title: Mid-Senior Data Scientist

    Description:

    A leading company that drives Data, Digital and Innovation value propositions seeks a seasoned professional with a strong background in the FMCG or Retail sectors.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leverage machine learning and statistical models to analyse large datasets from FMCG/Retail, uncovering patterns and trends that drive strategic decision-making.
    • Develop and deploy predictive models for key business functions, such as demand forecasting, customer segmentation, and pricing optimization.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, gather requirements, and present actionable insights that align with business goals.
    • Use data visualization tools to build dynamic dashboards that showcase key data science outputs.
    • Perform data extraction, cleaning, and transformation to prepare datasets for analysis.
    • Implement advanced analytical methods including regression, classification, clustering, and time series analysis.
    • Develop automated machine learning pipelines to improve data workflows and analytics efficiency.
    • Communicate complex findings through clear, actionable insights and data storytelling.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in data science roles, with significant experience in the FMCG or Retail industries.
    • Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics.
    • Proficient in Python, R, or similar languages for data science and analytics.
    • Hands-on experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
    • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
    • Experience with cloud platforms and familiarity with deploying models in a cloud environment.

    Salary: R400 - R600 per hour (cost to company), negotiable based on experience and ability.

    Location: Johannesburg, South Africa.
