    Senior Front End Web Developer

    Working in the Product Innovation department, this is a full-time employment opportunity based in Johannesburg.

    About the Role

    The Senior Front End Web Developer will collaborate closely with the Chief Innovation Officer to develop and maintain data-rich business software UI. This involves working with HTML & CSS to ensure the look and feel and layout of the application are optimal, as well as using JavaScript to maintain and develop interactivity and data processing and display functionality.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create engaging web applications that combine visual design and functionality by translating wireframes and prototypes into interactive apps.
    • Design and implement complex web interfaces and ensure the scalability and performance of web applications.
    • Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality code and advocate for web accessibility best practices.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
    • Coach, mentor, support and train junior developers.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging front-end technologies and evaluate their adoption in our projects.
    • Adhere to the SYSPRO software development methodology to perform unit testing and document changes made to the SYSPRO product.

    Requirements

    To be successful in this role, you will require:

    • A tertiary degree in software development or a related field.
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in developmental analysis and UI/UX Design, preferably within a corporate environment.

    We are looking for an individual with strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and leadership skills, particularly with project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.

    Technical Skills Required

    • Familiarity with HTML/HTML5 and Modern CSS including postCSS.
    • Experience with frameworks like Bootstrap would be advantageous.
    • Strong understanding of vanilla JavaScript, with familiarity with TypeScript beneficial.
    • Familiarity with tooling such as Webpack, Gulp, NPM libraries, and jQuery.
    • Knowledge of Kendo and charting libraries would be a plus.
