Be a part of a dynamic, global team Based on our mission of "impactful, agile auditing that really matters", Group Audit provides independent, objective assurance and advice to numerous clients, including Audit Committees, Boards of Management as well as senior leaders of business or corporate functions.


Munich Re of Africa (MRoA), is seeking an experienced person to fill the position of Internal Auditor. You will be responsible for performing audits at MRoA. Furthermore, you will be expected to add value at MRoA and the One Audit Community with your insights and knowledge.

Your job


Your job:

  • Efficient performance of all scheduled, adhoc and Group audits based on the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (llA), local regulations and Group Audit requirements.
  • Manage the cradle to grave audit process including resource and group coordination where applicable, audit execution, reporting and follow up.
  • Have a good understanding of the regulatory environment in South Africa and keep up with regulatory changes in the audit, governance and insurance space.
  • Coordinate all auditing issues and ensure excellent communication with management of units to be audited.
  • Create valuable business insights from internal audit activity and commercial knowledge to support decision making.
  • Issue audit reports of high quality with particular attention to major or serious deficiencies and to the measures agreed to remedy them.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed measures to remedy deficiencies appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Support the Head of Audit to prepare periodic reporting to Group Audit, the Board executive management and regulators.
  • Proactive engagement and positive relationship management with assigned business areas.
  • Exchange and collaborate with management of other Group audit units when necessary.
  • Support the Head of Audit in developing, implementing and maintaining a risk based internal audit plan, aligned with the business
  • Build a professional working relationship with the business as a trusted advisor.

Profile:


Your profile:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management, quality assurance or related functions, ideally in the (re)insurance or financial services industry. Relevant business experience would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the South Africa (re)insurance market and applicable prudential regulations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Collaborative team player, proactively sharing knowledge, highly motivated and with a precise working method as well as intercultural competencies
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to understand complex issues
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of data analytics software (e.g. ACL, Idea) is of advantage
  • Agile mindset; ability to manage multiple assignments and track progress
  • Confident and convincing approach, superior negotiating skills and assertiveness, ability to resolve conflicts effectively and pragmatically
  • University degree, preferably in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or Law
  • Relevant audit certifications(e.g. CIA/CISA/CA) or willingness to work towards
