    Job Summary

    Responsible for managing drivers, runners, and vehicles, as well as efficient route planning and coordination of collections.

    Responsibilities

    • Daily tracking of vehicles to ensure the best possible route is followed.
    • Efficient route planning using the vehicle management route optimization system.

    Coordinating collections with drivers and runners:

    • Vehicles leave the yard no later than 15 minutes after their shift commences.
    • Daily collection schedules are provided from the vehicle management system and amended when required.
    • Schedules/reschedules/cancels collections on the vehicle management system when applicable.
    • Vehicles offload timeously to minimize turnaround times and improve productivity.

    Personnel Management

    • Staff members work productively and efficiently, as per their job description.
    • Monthly team meetings with drivers and runners.
    • Ensure staff wear correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Employees clock in and out daily.
    • Confirm attendance registers are signed by staff when required.
    • Effective management and appointment of casual staff in the transport department.
    • Assist drivers in completing accident and damage reports according to company SOPs.
    • Drivers offload materials at the end of each shift.
    • Data collection processes are adhered to.

    Management of Vehicles

    • Vehicle inspections are carried out daily, and defects reported to the National Transport Manager.
    • Weekly inspections of vehicle tyre pressure.
    • Electronic inspection sheet completed during inspections.
    • Monthly inspections of all vehicles and trailers.
    • Update GPS ODO reading weekly with vehicle ODO reading.
    • Vehicles serviced on time, according to service intervals, and planned accordingly to minimize operational impact.
    • Vehicles are roadworthy before leaving the yard.
    • Vehicles delivered on time to relevant service providers for repairs.

    Manifest Management

    • Manifest packs printed for each driver and issued.
    • All manifests received, completed, and handed over to relevant personnel.
    • Comply with manifest application usage for all vehicles.

    Payroll

    • Leave forms followed up and completed when requested.
    • Remaining leave amounts verified with HR.
    • All leave forms sent to HR before concluding payroll.
    • Employee transfers done before concluding payroll.

    SHEQ Responsibilities

    • Legislation, rules, and responsibilities updated for all staff according to COVID-19 SOP.
    • Drivers' and runners' medicals validated.
    • Inductions booked and planned on various sites as required.
    • Breathalysing tests conducted upon staff arrival for shift and random checks throughout the shift.
    • Breathalyser registers confirmed to be signed.
    • Staff SOPs and SWPs ensured valid and in place when used.
    • Drivers and runners ensured vehicles cleaned daily.
    • Injuries handled on duty and reported according to IOD policy.
    • Corrective or preventative procedures taken when IOD occurs.
    • Incidents and accidents investigated and reported, with preventative action taken to avoid further incidents or accidents.

    Requirements

    • Matric/grade 12, a relevant degree/diploma highly advantageous.
    • Willingness to work day shift or night shift according to monthly roster.
    • Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar role.
    • Valid driver's license with own reliable transport preferable.
    • Well-presented, professional, and excellent communication skills required.
