    Description

    Procurement specialists play a pivotal role in facilitating the procurement process. This involves evaluating tenders for the supply of products and services, negotiating, and administering procurement contracts to ensure approved purchases are cost-effective, of high quality, compliant with contractual obligations, and meet the organization's requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum National Diploma in Purchasing/Logistics/Supply Chain Management or equivalent with commercial subjects.
    • A Bachelor's degree is highly desirable.

    Key Skills and Knowledge

    • At least 5-8 years of procurement experience, including at least 2 years of handling integrated procurement processes, tender management, and contract management functions.
    • Preferably 3 years of experience practicing Public Procurement Regulation as prescribed by the National Treasury/PFMA/PPPFA and B-BBEE.
    • SAP experience in the Materials Management module, particularly SAP Materials Management module experience, would be an advantage.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project.

    Main Responsibilities

    • To administer the integrated procurement process, conduct commercial evaluations (cost evaluations, commercial evaluations, B-BBEE evaluations, and other statutory compliance checks), and ensure follow-through of recommendations to contract management and contract close-out.
    • To provide procurement advice to internal clients on procurement strategies to optimally serve business needs.
    • To assist in negotiations and finalization of supply and service contracts to achieve cost savings and other commercial targets.
    • To effectively support B-BBEE imperatives and initiatives.
    • To assist internal user departments/client with the development of clear technical specifications and associated cost models.
    • To provide support to the procurement manager with the implementation of procurement strategies.
    • To implement procurement policy, systems, and procedures and ensure compliance thereto in the execution of procurement duties.
    • To ensure timely execution of procurement processes and manage internal client expectations.
    • To monitor supplier performance based on Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
    • To monitor supplier development plans for supplier growth and improved service delivery.
