Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 21/4/2023- Job PurposeTo contribute to curriculum development and to teach according to a set syllabus while providing support to the faculty in pursue of achieving its academic objectives, and to contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the faculty to enhance teaching and learning while promoting entrepreneurship learning in according to the needs of the community, and to support and expand programmes
for co-operative education to achieve this objective. To support faculty research initiatives through undertaking research and contributing towards group research.


This post will also be responsible to raising the standard of scholarship and research in the Department of Information Technology, by initiating some research projects in the field, providing mentorship for junior staff members, and supervising postgraduate students.

The incumbent will still perform all the functions of academics which include teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, supervising students, community engagement, curriculum development, academic administration, and conducting research.


  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Masters Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / or any related discipline in Computing (A relevant Doctoral Degree will be an added advantage)
  • At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in Higher Education

Recommendations:


  • At least two (2) years exposure to program management and curriculum development
  • At least 1 publications in an accredited journal or conference proceedings in the last two years
Programming Paradigms and Languages (Modern programming languages like: Java, Python, PHP, R, C++, C#), Data Storage Technologies like DBMS and NoSQL, Backend Development Technologies in Big Data and AI environment, Software Build tools like Maven, Gradle, Ivy or any other

  • Lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the IT discipline
  • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Provide appropriate academic and administrative leadership in the Department
  • Participate and contribute in academic development, curriculum development initiatives, courseware development and assessment
  • Participate in research activities of the Department
  • Develop and lead research in the Department
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
  • Monitor and assess work integrated learning
  • Coaching and mentoring of staff & students

  • Maximize education and research opportunities for the Department and the Faculty
  • Contribute towards development of academic staff
  • Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
