    Job Title: Senior IT Application Developer

    Our client, a leading law firm in Johannesburg North, seeks a skilled Senior IT Application Developer to create and deliver high-quality development solutions across the business.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering is required.
    • Working knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange programming is essential.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience with the software development life cycle process, software architecture, and design is necessary.
    • Solid foundation in programming experience and ability to learn new software and technologies quickly are crucial.
    • Experience in front-end or back-end software development, testing, and deploying programs and applications is desired.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills are essential for success.
    • Proficiency in SQL programming and databases (SQL Server and Oracle) is necessary.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with enterprise-level large-scale applications is required.
    • 5 years of programming experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio C# is necessary.
    • Experience using development tools and VB.NET, C#, WCF, Silverlight is desirable.
    • Ability to build client/server applications in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment is an advantage.
    • Problem-solving skills, data structures, and algorithms experience are essential.
    • AJAX and JQuery experience is advantageous.
    • Business Process Management and Document Management experience is also beneficial.
    • Solid experience with scripting languages (JavaScript) is necessary.
    • Knowledge of MS Office 201x applications is required.
    • ITIL Foundations certification would be an advantage.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Develop and configure web applications based on business requirements.
    • Participate in testing through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.
    • Analyze data to debug, trace, and fix performance and production issues.
    • Be process and detail oriented, able to perform code reviews, and mentor junior developers on technical skills.
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to change.
    • Integrate applications with off-the-shelf web and print authoring tools, SharePoint, and Learning Content Management System (LCMS) products.
    • Investigate and model business functions, processes, information flows, and data structures using methodical and consistent techniques.
    • Conduct presentations.
    • Document new and existing applications according to ENS standards (technical and functional specification).
    • Develop custom reports based on business requirements on all production technologies.
    • Develop user and administrative training manuals.
    • Interpret specifications to plan a new application requirement.
    • Design large and/or complex solutions from supplied specifications, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
    • Plan, design, and conduct tests of solutions, correcting errors and re-testing to achieve error-free results.
    • Assist the IT Architect to develop an integrated solutions baseline and platform.
    • Demonstrate experience and provide examples of where they improved ROI.
    • Look for ways to improve quality.
    • Provide regular feedback and have good communication skills, being able to communicate effectively.
