SHEQ Coordinator
INTRODUCTION:
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Engineering Consulting industry, for a SHEQ Coordinator. The position is based in Cape Town Harbor.
The purpose to monitor, maintain and continually improve the ISO 9001:2015 quality management and ISO 45001:2018 HSE management systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric.
- Minimum 5year Health, Safety and Quality field experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Internal auditing of management systems.
- Supplier evaluations.
- Third party and certification audits.
- Medically fit and in good physical condition.
- Availability to travel.
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Certificate e.g. SAMTRAC; Nebosh.
- Registered as SACPCMP.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard clausal requirements.
- ISO 9001:2015 and ISO introduction, implementation, internal auditing.
- Knowledge of the company's Safety Policies and Procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
HSE related duties:
- Implement ISO 45001:2018 and to maintain it over the periodic surveillance audits.
- Conduct safety assurance activities, as directed, and as per ISO 45001:2018 standard.
- Provide HSE support to the projects by maintaining a visible presence in the workshops and on sites.
- Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the HSE programmes in the workshops.
- Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
- Inform the management team and supervision of any new or conflicting legislative matters that could impact projects.
- Regularly audit the system for compliance and update to ensure the alignment with standards.
- Organize and schedule required safety staff and first aid coverage.
- Provide direction, HSE support and resources to all project managers, supervisors, team leaders and safety officers.
- Ensure that all incidents are reported immediately.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause and corrective actions, where necessary.
- Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
- Ensure injured workers are offered modified duties and that all documentation has been duly completed.
- Ensure the safety team training is uptodate and competencies comply with requirements, based on the training matrix.
- Review safety obligations of client projects and ensure these are carried out as per the terms of the agreements and communicated to the project manager involved.
- Ensure new employees are inducted to the company's requirements, and all required documentation is completed accurately and forwarded to HR.
- Ensure safety boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and Safety policy, inspections and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, etc. are maintained and current with assistance from the HSE Administrator.
- Ensure that the following material is available and on site or workplace, The company's HSE Manual, safety inspection forms, observation forms, JSA forms, copy of OHSAct, etc.
- Coordinate a regular meeting with safety team to review issues, trends, and upcoming projects.
Manage the following:
- Rigging store control.
- Safety committee attendance.
- Safety walkabout.
- Safety incentive scheme.
- Routine and nonroutine lifts, etc.
Buildings, facility,
and equipment management
- Implement and manage the company's security system (CCTV security systems, key control).
- Manage any new works impacting the company buildings and facilities.
- Manage the flammable stores and the hazardous wastes.
- Manage compliant company scrapping and waste procedures.
QM related duties:
- Internal audits create internal audit schedule and perform internal audits on various departments and processes as per internal audit schedule, report on internal audit. Ensure findings are closed out.
- Critical supplier audits create critical supplier audit schedule and perform critical supplier audits as per critical supplier audit schedule,
