Hello future Compliance Specialist


Ashburton Investments is a new generation investment manager that offers investors access to more sources of return and more ways to manage risk.

In the institutional space in South Africa as well as our Global business, we pride ourselves on offering solutions to address clients' holistic balance sheet needs, and to support business strategies in the reallocation of investment capital in the face of increasing regulatory pressures.

We see institutions as but not limited to, pension funds, long and short-term insurers, re-insurers, as well as medical aid schemes.


In this role you will be required to assist with the implementation and execution of the Ashburton Investments program, framework, including updating policies and procedures, risk assessments, training modules, testing of key processes, and performing transaction monitoring.


Are you someone who can:

  • Identifying the regulatory universe, assist with the drafting of risk management plans and assist business with the implementation of such plans;
  • Engage with stakeholders on findings of compliance risk and control assessments to ensure action plans adhere to regulatory standards
  • Participate in compliance tracking, reviews, and validation of incidents, including testing of processes and business controls as well as reporting on findings and recommendations.
  • Provide inputs and support to ensuring the business is educated on the regulatory landscape and by creating awareness around compliance implication of daily duties.
  • Advise business of changes in regulation and identify potential impact of these changes on the business
  • Participate and give input to the development and implementation of compliance related campaigns in order to create awareness of the importance of compliance as well providing staff and business with knowledge and skills related to compliance
  • Assisting in developing of policies, procedures, frameworks, and tools with specific focus on relevant risk legislation, for the benefit of the larger organization.
  • Monitor and ensure business committees operate according to required business governance standards through regular engagements
  • Provide regulatory support and expertise in the formulation and completion of compliance risk and control assessments.
  • Ensure that compliance risk is adequately identified and in so doing, guide the business in terms of addressing such risk
  • Guide business to ensure that business policies contain the right content addressing legislative requirements thereby working toward an effective and adequate control environment
  • Influence the enhancement of business processes to prevent compliance breaches and reputational risk from occurring, which could result in financial penalties.
  • Assist the Head Compliance with drafting of compliance reports to management and various governance structures within Ashburton Investments and FirstRand;
  • Have completed a undergraduate degree in a businessrelated discipline, preferred qualification
  • Post graduate Degree in a businessrelated discipline.
  • Have 5 years' experience in a similar environment,
  • Have deep knowledge of regulations, staying up to date on any pertinent changes to regulations.
