Job PurposeOur Africa-based team needs a Principal Tailings Engineer to support growth initiatives. We have a significant profile in tailings management and mine waste services for mining clients, from junior to top tier.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant qualifications in civil engineering (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering)
• Postgraduate qualifications in geotechnical or water engineering considered favorably
• Professionally registered civil or geotechnical engineer with at least 15 years of experience
• Proven track record in project and technical delivery

Key Responsibilities

• Team management and mentoring
• Company strategy and growth initiative development
• Client relationship development using established networks
• Technical leadership and project oversight
• Technical review of feasibility studies and designs of mine waste facilities and associated investigations and analyses
• Dam safety evaluations and risk assessments
• Mine waste facility audits and inspections

Skills and Experience

• Substantial experience in mine waste engineering in consulting environment
• Broad range of experience in planning, feasibility, design, and construction phase services
• Extensive experience in leading project teams
• Good experience in reviewing design works, reports, and proposals
• English speaking with excellent communication skills
• Proactive, innovative, and quality-oriented
• Connected network across Mining sector
• Professionally registered (PrEng or similar) in South Africa
• Detailed knowledge of global industry standards and guidelines
• Good experience with water engineering and closure needs developments
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and specific software relevant to geotechnical and dam engineering
• Strong technical background and commercial acumen
