Description

Reporting to Senior Manager (Electrical), the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for electrical fault finding, repairs, inspections as well as planned and reactive maintenance on all electrical assets and equipment (e.g., generators, transformers etc.).

The incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, overseeing and/or executing all maintenance activities in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner and other relevant stakeholders.

The Electrical Supervisor must manage, lead and guide the Electrical Assistants and liaise with other relevant internal stakeholders to ensure that all maintenance-related concerns or queries are timeously and professionally mitigated.

Excellent customer service and communication is required.

Moreover, the person must manage and control external Service Providers and Suppliers and take responsibility for the administrative and financial duties (with particular emphasis on the purchase of goods and services rendered).

In addition, they will occasionally be required to assist the Senior Manager:
Electrical and/or Services Manager (Electrical) with ad-hoc or special projects.


The following job objectives were found to be relevant to this job:

1. Planned and Reactive Maintenance and Upgrades

  • Implement planned and preventative maintenance programs for the Electrical department
  • Oversee and manage the resolution of all call outs
  • Liaise with the relevant Stakeholders regarding Electrical breakdowns, issues or complaints
  • Oversee and manage regular maintenance and replacement of Electrical assets (e.g. lights, plugs, UPS etc.)
  • Oversee and manage fault finding on Electrical assets (e.g. generators, transformers, ring main units)
  • Responsible for regular inspection and repair of all Electrical assets
  • Ensure the safety of Electrical reticulations pertaining to SANS1014
  • Prepare and submit reports to motivate for relevant Electrical Infrastructure upgrades

Site-walks and Inspections

  • Conduct, ensure and oversee site walks, daily checks and site inspections to inspect all Electrical Assets and Equipment
  • Conduct regular quality control checks
  • Identify safety hazards onsite and report such to the relevant Manager as well as Health and Safety Office
  • Take back & prior store opening inspections.
  • Physical fitness is essential to perform duties/task effectively and must be prepared to work at heights

3. Financial Management

  • Obtain quotes for specific tasks as per budget
  • Assist procurement with technical knowledge regarding the quotes
  • Ensures order is placed by procurement

4. People Management

  • Liaise with, support and manage service providers
  • Track and monitor progress and quality
  • Hold regular meetings to plan and execute all maintenance activities
  • Lead, manage and mentor their direct reports and interns
  • Responsible for performance management of subordinates
  • Meet deadlines, ensure contingency planning, approval channels, procedures, budgeting, monitoring and governance etc.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders (internal and external) comply with all the relevant Health and Safety standards and legislative requirements
  • Manage risk and compliance

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Inform and collaborate with the relevant BU's on the planned maintenance to ensure that this is communicated to the tenants
  • Manage external service providers and suppliers (specifically obtaining competitive quotations and ensuring excellent delivery of work)
  • Collaborate and work closely with various Managers (including Project Manager and Senior Electrical Manager) and internal BU's as part of project planning and execution
  • Build and foster professional working relationships with trusted service providers and suppliers
  • Build and foster a professional relationship with tenants to ensure excellent customer service
  • Report regularly on Maintenance progress and always keep tenants informed

6. Ad-hoc projects

  • Assist with adhoc Electrical projects or requests as and when needed

Educational requirements relevant to this job:

  • Artisan with minimum NTC3 OR deemed equivalent
  • Successful completion of an appropriate apprenticeship
  • Passing of a recognized industry TRADE TEST combined

Knowledge requirements relevant to this job:
