Investor Operations Manager

Head of Operations


BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION


The role of the Investor Operations Manager is to manage and develop the day-to-day administration of the Transfer Agency function.

The individual will be required to manage TA output, resolving operational issues; review staff output where escalations are received; ensure processes are followed, standards are adhered to and SLA/KPIs are met.

This individual must develop and maintain a thorough understanding of every business process within the Investor Services operations

The role includes ownership/oversight of projects aimed at improving the processes within the Investor Services Operations.

Outline of main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the output of the team according to the daily production schedule
  • Manage the output of the outsourced administrator in accordance with the SLA
  • Develop insight into and continuously evolve processes to create operational efficiency
  • Identify risks and action plans to mitigate and ensure no process loopholes
  • Continuously upskill the team and ensure quality process documentation

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A B.Com / B.Bus.
Sc or equivalent degree / diploma in Finance; Statistics, Accounting or equivalent

  • Either 3 years accounting experience and 12 months Investor operations experience or; 5 years Investor operations experience
  • Exposure to collective investments environment
  • Team management
  • Transfer agency knowledge would be an asset
IT and Systems Skills and

Knowledge:

  • Advanced level experience in using Excel
  • Knowledge of transfer agency software; Silica; TCube, FlexCube or similar
  • Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems

Skills and Abilities:

  • Detailed understanding of funds including class and fee structures
  • Previous experience in supervising a team
  • Previous experience in dealing with clients
  • Previous experience in mentoring of junior and new staff
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and selfmotivated
  • A track record of achievement
  • You are an independent; innovative, logical and systemic thinker
  • You display drive, purpose, and initiative
  • You have the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, aided by a disciplined and methodical working style
  • You have strong management skills and are able to work as part of the team
  • You have the ability to view processes from a high level to identify gaps and risks
  • You can develop and document procedures, providing easy to follow guidelines and training material
  • You have very strong problemsolving skills

Knowledge:

  • Basic investment product knowledge
  • Good understanding of Financial Markets, instruments, and systems
