Assessment and Quality Assurance in education focuses on ensuring the effectiveness, fairness, and reliability of educational processes and outcomes to maintain and enhance the overall quality of education.

_**-RESPONSIBILITIES:_

  • The incumbent will be responsible for:_
- _The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;_
- _In addition, the incumbent will pursue research activities such as own research, research-based publications and the supervision of post graduate students registered in the department; _
- _Developing, presenting and co-ordinating undergraduate and postgraduate courses for pre-service and in-service teachers and other students for contact and distance presentation;_
- _Mentoring students for practice teaching/work integrated learning;_
- _Using a learning management system to develop and present courses;_
- _Presenting lectures and programmes in an E-learning environment;_
- _Providing a significant contribution to research outputs, post graduate teaching and supervision._

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:_
  • LECTURER:_
- _Master's degree in the field of Assessment and Quality Assurance / Educational Measurements and Evaluation or an equivalent Master's degree in a related field (for example psychology, education)._
- _Evidence of teaching experience in Assessment and Quality Assurance for example being a teacher, tutor or lecturer; or similar teaching experience in related fields, for example research methodology in social and human sciences_
- _Sound knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodology and data analysis techniques, e.g., SPSS, ; or similar software packages_
- _At least one publication in an accredited journal or equivalent units;_

  • SENIOR

LECTURER:
_
- _PhD in the field of Assessment and Quality Assurance / Educational Measurements and Evaluation; or an equivalent doctoral degree in a related field (social and human sciences)._
- _At least three years of tertiary or related teaching experience;_
- _At least five accredited publications and evidence of conference papers;_
- _Evidence of successful Masters or PhD supervision;_

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Knowledge of the different knowledge fields of Assessment and Quality Assurance / Educational Measurements and Evaluation;
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies in the different knowledge fields of Assessment and Quality Assurance / Educational Measurements and Evaluation;
  • Knowledge of the South African education system regarding Assessment and Quality Assurance / Educational Measurements and Evaluation;
  • Knowledge of and experience of facilitation in an Elearning environment;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills;
  • Ability to work as an individual and in a team.
- _Academic administration and participation in departmental/faculty committees._

  • Evidence of coordination responsibilities and membership of committees;
  • Participation in Departmental Meetings;
  • Evidence of involvement in community engagement programmes;
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
