Responsibilities:


  • Define the technology solution for the Data and Analytics (D&A) environment to ensure that it meets current and anticipated future technological needs
  • Create comprehensive technical specifications from business requirements, leveraging your indepth knowledge of D&A and other relevant backend systems and data sources
  • Build an inventory of data needed to implement the architecture
  • Research new opportunities for data acquisition
  • Identify and evaluate current data management technologies, assessing their applicability to the D&A environment and business needs
  • Implement measures to enhance data accuracy, accessibility, scalability, security, performance, reliability and recovery
  • Ensure new systems are integrated with existing warehouse structures
  • Develop data models for database structures and maintain a corporate repository of all data architecture artifacts
  • Attend project kickoff sessions to determine D&A involvement as well as dependencies
  • Take key technology decisions at various stages in the project
  • Deliver bestpractice data architecture standards, policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure solution components are integrated appropriately
  • Work closely with business analysts, business owners, stakeholders and end users to ensure system evolution meets emerging requirements
  • Monitor and report on the performance of data management systems
  • Prescribe best practice and provide guidance and direction related to technology choices
  • Create documentation such as data sources, data warehouses and system architecture designs
  • Participate in architecture activities between various development centers


To qualify for this position, you should have either a relevant three-year tertiary qualification (degree/diploma) plus four years' proven experience within management information systems/systems analysis/implementation/design OR two to four years' demonstrated experience plus relevant industry certifications such as AWS or DMBOK2.

A Grade 12 certificate is mandatory.
