    Description

    Microbiology Analyst

    The primary goal of this role is to analyze samples submitted to the laboratory, ensuring timely completion of work.

    Key Responsibilities

    This position requires:

    • A National Diploma in Biotechnology or a BSc Degree in Microbiology.
    • 1-2 years' experience in a Food microbiology laboratory.

    The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

    1. Conducting various tests independently, including complex procedures.
    2. Verifying results and interpreting data against established sources of information.
    3. Improving laboratory efficiency by implementing process improvements.
    4. Maintaining adherence to departmental turnaround times (TATs) and providing early warnings to supervisors of potential delays.
    5. Cleaning and disinfecting equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
    6. Ensuring the upkeep of laboratory instruments and notifying management of calibration and service requests as needed.
    7. Performing all analysis and related tasks in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and quality assurance procedures.
    8. Implementing corrective actions for TATs within the area of responsibility.
    9. Maintaining acceptable proficiency scores for completed work.
    10. Managing consumable costs effectively.
    11. Timely completion of reporting requirements and responses to team members as needed.
    12. Additional duties may be assigned by the company within the scope of the employee's work.
